How to…make people with giant pipe cleaners

Well the winter olympics are over, the Superbowl is over for another year but it’s a World Cup Soccer year, it’s rolling into ‘footy’ season in Australia, and there is a myriad of other sporting events happening all around the world!

So we thought it would be fun to use the fabulous giant pipe cleaners like Brain Noodles to create some poseable athletes.  The instructions are a downloadable PDF you can get by clicking here: Brain Noodle Person but basically you will need the following for each student:

2 x coloured Brain Noodles: these are amazing, see our earlier blog article on them!
1 x 30cm stem
1 x 60mm polystyrene ball
2 x moving eyes
Coloured felt strips for clothing
Handful of coloured crystal shred for hair
Lump of dough or plasticine for stand if desired.
Sequins, rhinestones, alphabet scatters etc for decoration if desired.
PVA glue

These great big people can be used for all kinds of diorama activities and can be decorated any way you like.  We like to call them athletes because the kids can pose them in all kinds of funny athletic poses, and some of the sport outfits are great bright colours – have students design a team of their own athletes and make up their own sport with props and uniforms – then play a mock game…

Remember to have fun and try and leave realism behind, the brighter and more vibrant the brain noodle athletes are the more fun it will be!  Maybe post us some pictures from your classroom’s brain noodle house athletics day!

  1. I would like to receive some prices on your products as I teach Kindy/Preprimary class and would like to do more 3D activities.
    Thanks

    • Hi Robyn,
We don’t sell directly to school but sell to several wholesalers who supply our products Australia-wide, including Officemax and Corporate Express. Do not hesitate to send me an e-mail (info@colorific.com.au) with your location and I will come back to you with a list of other local suppliers in your area. And thanks for your interest in 3D activities, we’ll post more ideas very soon!
